Church issued oratio imperata (special prayer) to protect drug lords from death!
MANILA – Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Tagle issued Saturday an “oratio imperata” or special prayer for the country’s leaders to reject a “culture of death” ahead of a leadership change at the end of the month. The prayer did not name a specific politician, but President-elect Rodrigo Duterte has vowed to wage a “bloody” campaign against crime. An “oratio imperata” is issued during difficult situations.
Among the last such prayers were for rain to quell the El Nino dry spell and for a peaceful resolution to the country’s sea dispute with China. “Bless our leaders with true reverence for human life and unyielding opposition to the culture of death,” according to the prayer,” which will be read in all masses in the Archdiocese of Manila from Tuesday until the eve of Duterte’s inauguration. “Bless our leaders with a passion for truth that liberates and integrity that inspires,” read the prayer, which was posted on the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines’ news website.
The special prayer also asked for “sincere generosity and courageous simplicity of lifestyle” and a spirit of “spirit of heroic sacrifice and unrelenting fortitude” for the country’s leaders. While the Catholic Church does not endorse candidates during elections, it maintains significant influence since 80 percent of the country’s 100 million people subscribe to the faith.
For once, drug lords are perishing but the church seem to want them back. The fact the church issued an “oratio imperata” or special prayer for the country’s leaders to reject the killing of drug lords means they want the drug lords back and the reason I say that is because killing the drug lords is the only thing that has worked against the "culture of death" brought about by drugs. Having said that, is it fair to say that the church is pro-drug lord?
On June 18 2016, ABS-CBN News released a story about Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Tagle issuing an “oratio imperata” or special prayer for the country’s leaders to reject the “culture of death” ahead of a leadership change at the end of the month. Although the Archbishop didn't mention a name, there is only one leader who is waging a bloody war against crime. Archbishop Luis Antonio Tagle actions raises two questions. The first is, who is spreading the culture of death? The drug lords or the drug lord hunters? The second question is, if the “oratio imperata” really works; why doesn't it rid us of the drug lords and corrupt officials? Why doesn't the “oratio imperata” rid us of poverty? Finally, our nation's prayer to end corruption, crime, and the scourge of drugs has been answered but the church just like the pharisees in the bible didn't welcome the change.

ReplyDeleteMarami ang mga tanga, hindi nakakaintindi nang tinatawag na ORATIO IMPERATA ito po ay isang obligasyon o trabaho nang kaparian na ipagdasal ang sanlibutan, maging ano man ang iyong kasarian, paniniwala, o katayuan sa lipunan, maging ito man ay naging kriminal, o ang mga kriminal. Ang mga pari ay hindi huwes para humusga, ang trabaho at oblugasyon nila ay magdasal para sa sanlibutan. Ipaubaya na lang natin sa korte ang panghhusga sa usapin ng kriminalidad dahil hindi trabaho nang mg apari iyon.

They may have started out of curiosity or experimentation or escapement but after a period of time they find themselves enjoying the experience.
