3 VCMs, Other Unidentified Electronic Machines Found in Laguna Abandoned Warehouse

Three Vote Counting Machines (VCM) were found inside an abandoned warehouse near Sta. Rosa and Biñan border on Monday.

The machines, together with two electronic counting machines, two cordless phones, five Motorola two-way radios, and a big unidentified machine were discovered by warehouse’s owner on Monday morning.

Leticia Ramirez, the owner of the warehouse said her 1,000 sqm property was rented by a certain Santiago Vadevia on April. Ramirez said the warehouse was supposed house construction materials for the nearby under construction building. Ramirez added that they agreed for a 3-month rent (from April to July), but her care taker told her that the warehouse had been closed after their contract expired. Baldevia disappeared without a trace, so as the workers and other people who used the warehouse.

Ramirez decided to ask the help of the Barangay because other parties are interested in renting the warehouse.

Local officials on Monday morning were shocked to discover the machines, and immediately informed the DILG officials in the province.

It is not clear if the machines were used on the alleged May 2016 election fraud, but the big question as to why there were VCMs there remains a mystery.

Local people said they had no idea about the machines because trucks were going back and forth inside the warehouse before the May Elections.

Another local bystander who refused to identify himself said the warehouse had been closed right after the elections.

“Yong mga tao jan dati kumakain pa dito sa amin kaya tangdang tanda ko kung kelan sila nawala”, the bystander said.

All three VCMs are labeled with Smartmatic and May 2016 COMELEC sticker.

Other things found according to Bgry. Official Luisito Cuevas were cooking and kitchen wares, different chargers, unused T-shirt inside paper bag from SM boutique, and a lot recyclable trash like plastic bottles and empty liquor bottles.

Technology experts are still identifying the big machine that looks like a “videoke machine with printer inside” according to a Brgy. Tanod. Police denied entry of the reporters into the warehouse earlier. COMELEC has yet to give official statement about the finds. /Rene Escarpe – Sta. Rosa City/
