With several news escalating about the deteriorating health of President Rodrigo Duterte, a netizen gave out an open letter to the people writing and posting about it.

MJ Quiambao Reyes on her Facebook page lashed on the writers and bloggers who she claimed where taking advantage of Duterte's pain to "further theiir yellow agenda". Composite photos from MJ's FB and Rappler

Linking an article by journalist Raissa Robles who was exposing the lapses of the President due to his illness, she wrote:

"Shame on you! Pray that you will not suffer slipped spinal disc & terrible migraine, among other illnesses." She said she wished these people coul write more objectively and out of concern. Reyes said that instead of writing about the meetings Duterte missed, the writers should tell about all the other meetings he attended.

"I may not have the exact figures at this time, but this much I can tell: Our President works from 12NN to 3AM (that's about 15 hours daily); attends and delivers speeches in 2-5 events in a day; and yes, even presides late night or early dawn meetings with his staff. " she wrote.

She said the president earned billions for the country and yet the publicity focuses more on his shortcomings. "I prefer this 71yr-old President who takes a quarter of a Fentanyl patch so he can continue to function and serve faithfully the people with all he got despite his age & his illnesses. " she added.

Read full statement of Ms. MJ Quiambao Reyes:

To the writers/bloggers out there who are obviously taking advantage of the President's condition (and his use of pain reliever) just to further their yellow agenda:

SHAME ON YOU!

Pray that you will not suffer slipped spinal disc & terrible migraine, among other illnesses.

Try writing more objectively and out of genuine concern instead of making a big deal of the 4-5 times he missed a speaking engagement (due to sickness) just to maliciously insinuate drug dependence and incompetence. Why not fairly inform your readers as to how many more important activities, events & speaking engagement he, in fact, was able to attend to as against the 4 he missed?

I may not have the exact figures at this time, but this much I can tell: Our President works from 12NN to 3AM (that's about 15 hours daily); attends and delivers speeches in 2-5 events in a day; and yes, even presides late night or early dawn meetings with his staff. This on top of attending other important activities like visiting the wounded soldiers, checking on the situation of those affected by typhoons, etc. Too bad, your eyes are too blinded by the yellow lights to actually see that our President now is one of the most hardworking leaders our nation ever had.

By now, he must have attended and spoke to over a hundred important events in & out the country. He also won the hearts of several leaders of other countries and brought home billions of promised investments & increased business cooperation. Yet, all you saw and wrote about was the 4-5 events he missed.

(Eh noon nga, mas inuuna ni BS Aquino ang mag-ninong sa kasalan ng mga mayayaman o pumarty-party kesa alamin ang sitwasyon ng mga nasalanta ng bagyo pero ala kang sinabi!)

I prefer this 71yr-old President who takes a quarter of a Fentanyl patch so he can continue to function and serve faithfully the people with all he got despite his age & his illnesses. I prefer having him as our country's leader any time, any day, over that previous stoic president and over that lady on the cover of the magazines that you (yellow journalists cum PR practioners) served and continue to serve.

Ms. Robles' article is not only outright stupid, unfair, & insulting to the President but also to me & many others who run for Ponstan, Tylenol, Advil (and yes, even Fentanyl for some) to help us manage the excruciating pain brought about by various illnesses from migraine, arthritis, cancer, etc. We do so despite some ill-effects of these meds to our own bodies just so we can function and we can still be of service to our families, to our God/s, and to our country & fellowmen.
