Japan Donates 54 Brand New Emergency Vehicles Worth Around $700,000



The government of Japan through the the Japanese Embassy here in the Philippines announced that they donated brand new emergency vehicles worth around $700,000 to 11 local government units (LGUs) in Visayas as well as 15 LGUs in Mindanao under the provision of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

Ambassador Kazuhide Ishikawa of Japan attended the turn-over ceremony of the 54 brand new emergency vehicles held at the Bahay ng Alumni, UP in Quezon City.


The event dubbed as Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) was attended by DILG Sec. Ismael Sueno, Chief Superintendent Bobby Baruelo of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Dr. Vincent Manalo of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The event was also attended by Mayors from the beneficiary municipalities and 200 fire fighters. In a news report posted by The Manil Times, the total number of emergency vehicles granted by Japan under those projects amount to 54 units or around US$700,000 in value.


With the donations from Japan to the Philippine government, the BFP which doesn't have sufficient number of emergency vehicles to provide their every fire station for their rescue operations and fire extinguishing activities will now have the capabilities to provide the needs of every LGU beneficiaries.

Through the project of the Japanese Embassy, the BFP will be able to improve their services during emergency response cognizant to the efforts being made by the government of Japan in improving disaster risk reduction and management in the Philippines.

The donations from Japan is expected that a total of 3.06 million people in Visayas as well as 6.60 million in Mindanao will benefit from the brand new emergency vehicles assistance from Japan.
