May I go out? Ping zings Dayan on bathroom break request!

Ronnie Dayan, the former driver-bodyguard of Sen. Leila de Lima, was allowed more than one bathroom break during Monday’s Senate hearing on the killing of Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa – but not without getting zinged.

While Sen. Panfilo Lacson granted Dayan’s request, he commented that Dayan had yet to tell the truth but already asked to be excused more than once.

“Wala pang sinasabing totoo, excuse ng excuse,” Lacson said. During the hearing, Dayan had been criticized by some senators for inconsistencies in his statements. “Bakit napaka-selective ng memory mo Ronnie?” Lacson said.

Lacson himself reminded Dayan of a 1950 precedent where a resource person who evaded senators’ questions was jailed in Muntinlupa City. Lacson said the Supreme Court upheld the Senate’s action then. “Hindi ko sinasabing gagawin namin sa inyo ito. Ang sinasabi lang namin, pwede naming gawin,” he added.
