Doctor to Drilon: We need SSS pension increase now, if you disagree, what's your alternative?

Dr. Andrea Carigma on her Facebook gave a message to Senator Franklin Drilon: We need SSS pension increase now.

The opposition senator rejected the plan to raise the monthly contribution rate of Social Security System members to add a P1,000 pension hike for retirees, as he said that it is unlawful.

She said the increase in benefits should not be compensated by a contribution rate increase.

Carigma in answer to this said that the funds present now are collections from years before and they are insufficient, hence there must have been an ieptitude at the collection and should be investigated.

She said the pensioners need the money as soon as possible.

She also noted that the law is made for the welfare of the people, hence if it contradicts what is best for them, it needs to be amended.

"We need the increase NOW. Hong long will the pensioners be living? If the government does not act now, WHEN?" she said.

"If you totally disagree with the government's solution to the problem, HOW DO YOU PROPOSE WE DO IT?" she added.
