Ilan na lang ba kami ngayon? Leni says ‘weak’ LP ain’t involved in plans for Duterte ouster

Vice President Leni Robredo has denied anew allegations that her party, the Liberal Party, is involved in plans to oust President Rodrigo Duterte.

Facing reporters in Albay Wednesday (Jan. 4), Robredo said LP couldn’t possibly be involved in plans to unseat Duterte owing to the party’s size.

“Tingin ko halata naman na hindi malakas iyong Liberal Party, ilan na lang ba kami ngayon? Ang biruan di ba ay isang Volkvagen na lang iyong Liberal Party,” she said.

The allegation that the LP is involved in the supposed plan to oust Duterte surfaced when Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II tagged a member of the party, Senator Leila de Lima, in the September 2016 riot inside the New Bilibid Prison which wounded inmate Jaybee Sebastian.

Citing information from the convict which supposedly stabbed Sebastian, Aguirre claimed the LP wanted Sebastian killed as part of the plan to unseat Duterte to bring the former ruling party back in power.
